A Black Tie Affair, Wimberley Texas

Real Weddings

For Laurie and Andrew design was very important. They really wanted their wedding to be beautiful and elegant.  Even though the venue is naturally gorgeous there were a lot of design elements we added. We had Unique Design drape the ceiling, we had jewels, chandeliers, and dangly lights hung in the trees. We brought in chairs, a dance floor and stage facades. Floral was also very important. Every table has gorgeous florals on it. Guests were asked to dress in black tie attire.

We also incorporated their monogram in several places (dance floor, cigar labels, menus, escort cards, etc)
Spending lots of time with their guests and making everything as easy as possible for them was all a huge priority. They did their rehearsal dinner at Hotel Van Zandt on Thursday so everyone could go all out and then enjoy Austin on Friday. Then on the day of the wedding they offered transportation for their guests to and from the venue. When guests arrived they were all greeted with a glass of champagne. They had a gorgeous family style meal so no one had to stand in line for dinner. Surf and Turf and duck fat potatoes were served.

To incorporate the bride’s Cuban side we had Cuban cigars! This was a massive hit. We were probably 10 minutes behind dinner because everyone was enjoying the cigars so much and wouldn’t come inside….and we had an hour and a half cocktail hour!! Everyone was happy. The night ended with a classic sparkler send off with the bride and groom taking off in a vintage car. Overall, Laurie and Andrew were a dream couple. Laurie is incredibly classy and sweet! There wasn’t one vendor who wasn’t obsessed with them!! – Tessa Johnson, Senior Planner, Eclipse Event Co.

The Cuban cigar idea came from incorporating a little “Florida” into our Texas hill country wedding, given the Cuban influence there, and that’s where I’m from. It just added a nice touch with the 1960s Bentley and the black tie formal attire. The desserts were in place of wedding favors, we had Brigadeiro chocolates, and were black and white to match the color palette and theme.”
